Duration: 1 January 2015 - 31 December 2020

Description:

The Infrastructural Program (IP) provide support to the scientific research work of two organizational units of the Andrej Marušič Institute (UP IAM): the Department of Technology (OT) and the Department of Health Study (OPZ). Each department performs different activities, however they already collaborate in joint interdisciplinary scientific research in the field of well-being in the built environment. The main objectives of the program are research and development in support of the greatest well-being in the built environment.

Operations of the IP are divided into 5 work packages (WP):

  • WP1: Renewable natural materials,
  • WP2: Ergonomics in built environment,
  • WP3: Innovative built environments,
  • WP4: Dissemination and promotion,
  • WP5: Management and coordination.

The focus of WP1 is research into innovative and efficient improvements in the use of renewable materials for the built environment and on development of new techniques for the reuse, cascading use and recycling of wooden products, residues and waste. In WP2 studies leading to improved ergonomics of built environments for target users are performed. In WP3 the relationship between humans and nature is studied. Emphasis is placed on how integrating nature into the constructed urban environment (normally lacking in natural elements) influences human health and well-being. In WP4 systematic dissemination and promotion of the IP's scientific research on national and international level is performed. In addition to scientific communities, state agencies and other governmental bodies the general public is a key dissemination target, with the emphasis on children and elderly populations. WP5 supports integration and collaboration among all WPs through leadership and management of the IP.

The IP supports research programs, national and international projects as well as other research work currently being conducted at OT and OPZ. In addition to this collaboration, the program also supports collaboration with other infrastructural programs at University of Primorska and other research organizations in Slovenia. International outreach by OT and OPZ integrate the IP into current and future international scientific research projects, thereby strengthening the overall research and development area in their respective fields.
